Join us on Friday Nov. 21, 12 noon, to meet with the campaign manager for Mike Thompson, who has been in Congress since 1998. Thompson currently represents California's 4th Congressional District, including all of Napa and Lake counties and parts of Solano, Sonoma, and Yolo, and will be running in the newly defined 4th District, which includes Yuba County. This is a chance to ask questions in an informal setting. We’ll be in the back room at Round Table Pizza, 202 9th St., Marysville.

Our next Yuba County Democratic Committee meeting will be on Monday, January 12, 2026, 6pm at Round Table Pizza, 202 9th St., Marysville.

Here’s who the Yuba Dems have met with recently via Zoom:

Ben Allen, candidate for Insurance Commissioner, currently represents the 24th District State Senate District in Southern California. Senator Allen chairs the Senate Budget Subcommittee #2 (Resources, Environmental Protection, and Energy) and serves as vice-chair of the Legislature’s Joint Committee on the Arts. An attorney and former school board member, Senator Allen has authored crucial legislation in the areas of economic development, environmental protection, climate change, green transit, educational equity, government transparency, insurance, and electoral reform.

Michael Tubbs, candidate for Lieutenant Governor, is the former mayor of Stockton, and an advisor to Governor Gavin Newsom. As Lieutenant Governor, he would sit on the University of California system board of directors and would look at the land owned by the system for housing or other

options. Michael  talked about having been mayor of Stockton during Trump’s first term and through COVID. He is running to build a future for Californians with accessible and affordable vocational programs, college, and housing. He supports a guaranteed basic income to end poverty and homelessness.

Prop 50 passed in a landslide victory! Congratulations and thank you, California Democrats! “Every phone call, every conversation, every door knock made this victory possible. California Democrats proved that once again the road to retaking the House of Representatives runs through California.” - Rusty Hicks, Chair of the California Democratic Party

Now it’s time to close the deal by winning 48 congressional seats in 2026 and taking back the house:

We changed the map, now it’s time to change the math in Congress.

California holds 52 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives. Democrats currently hold 43 of those. With passage of Prop 50, we have the opportunity to win 48 and - once again - the road to taking back the House will run through California.

With momentum and truth on our side, California Democrats need to get to work to turn out the vote for the November 2026 election.

We have built our forever organizing program in communities across California and will keep reaching out to voters in key swing Congressional districts and across the state.

We are so thankful for every person who steps forward to support our country’s best values! Here are some thoughts from a 2018 article posted at americansofconscience.com:

Gratitude is more than politeness. Science tells us that the act of expressing gratitude benefits our nervous system, endocrine system, and immune system.

Conveying sincere thanks lowers our stress and creates feelings of peaceful inter-connectedness. It makes us feel safer and helps us stay healthy. All from a simple “thank you.”

Best of all, both the giver and the receiver experience these benefits. All it takes is a little time to say thank you from the heart— for good deeds and courageous actions (no matter how small).

Friends, not only is gratitude a way of encouraging elected officials to keep doing the right thing, it is a way to stay engaged in daunting times…

If you need a boost, bring gratitude to your activism this week. Say “thank you” to unlikely people. Let the words come from the heart. You’ll be surprised how good it feels.
