VOTING NEWS
Yes we can…vote by drop box, polling location, or mail postmarked by November 3. You can sign up to track your ballot and know when it has been processed.
Are you seeing voter disinformation? Don’t let it stop you! If you have questions, call the CADEM Voter Hotline, 877-321-8683!
California has a Voter Bill of Rights – see it at sos.ca.gov/elections/voter-bill-rights.
If you mail your ballot, it must be postmarked by November 3. Don’t forget to sign and date the back of the envelope. No postage is needed to return it.
Are you encouraging other folks to vote? Folks can still register and vote on Monday Nov. 2 or Tuesday Nov 3; on Monday, at the Election office in Marysville; on Tuesday, at the Elections office or at a polling location in the county they live in (Yuba County polling places are listed here). Folks who show up at polling places or the County office and aren’t registered can vote a provisional ballot; the ballot will be held until the Elections Office verifies the person’s eligibility to vote.
Do I need ID to vote? In most cases, a California voter is not required to show identification to a polling place worker before casting a ballot. (Vote NO on Proposition 39 to ensure that we retain this freedom!) However, if you are voting for the first time after registering to vote by mail and did not provide your driver license number, California identification number or the last four digits of your social security number on your registration form, you may be asked to show a form of identification when you go to the polls. More info here, or call the Secretary of State's Voter Hotline at (800) 345- VOTE (8683).
California has strong laws to protect voters, election workers, and the integrity of the democratic process. On October 31, the state website reported that Governor Newsom sent a letter to top federal judges in California warning of potential election interference by Trump administration, and highlighting legal resources for use in evaluating any potential requests for search warrants seeking election materials. On October 29, a federal judge blocked the Trump administration from threatening or intimidating election officials; on October 31, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals rejected an appeal by the Justice Department.
