Gun violence: a terrible reminder

CALIFORNIA DEMOCRATS MOURN WITH BROWN UNIVERSITY STUDENTS AND BONDI BEACH VICTIMS, SUPPORT SENSIBLE GUN SAFETY LAWS:

Yesterday’s deadly mass shootings at Brown University and the antisemitic shooting in Bondi Beach, Australia, are a terrible reminder that gun violence can touch anyone. From college campuses, to schools, grocery stores, churches, concerts, and neighborhoods, there are no spaces that are “safe” from gun violence.

California Democrats mourn with the families of those who were killed or harmed in the attacks and will continue to fight for sensible gun safety laws in California and across the United States.

The mass shooting in Bondi Beach, Australia occurred during a Hanukkah Celebration. California Democrats denounce antisemitism, hate, intolerance and political violence.

According to the Giffords Law Center, the United States accounts for just 4% of the world’s population but 35% of global firearm suicides and 9% of global firearm homicides. Our nation’s weak gun safety laws are responsible for over 40,000 deaths in America every year.

California Democrats support sensible gun safety laws that reduce gun deaths, which is why our state has some of the strongest gun safety laws in the nation.
